Research Project: CRUMBS - Places and Augmented Reality in Social Networks
July 2010 - July 2013
CRUMBS aims to explore a new way of organizing information in a social network based on users interacting with their physical environments while wandering around. This idea means that users will consume rich multimedia social content "stuck" in different places by using their mobile phone as a mixer between the real world, captured by the mobile camera, and the (crumbs) social content provided by CRUMBS users. In cooperation with an associated partner, the German sub-project, which is part of an overall European CELTIC project with participation of Spain and Poland, will develop and evaluate scenarios in the field of eTourism. metaio's research topics include robust localization of mobile devices, AR authoring tools and context-sensitivity. The sub-project is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) and supervised by the DLR (German Aerospace Center).
