    The Metaio Creator is an easy to use Augmented Reality (A-R) authoring tool. It allows for quick and easy creation and deployment of Augmented Reality scenarios that are based on the latest tracking technologies. You can create your own A-R scenarios within minutes.


    2. Can I purchase a Metaio Creator license?

    Metaio products and subscriptions are no longer available for purchase. Downloads of your previous purchases will be available until December 15th, 2015.


    3. How do I access documentation for Metaio Creator?

    For product documentation please refer to the Metaio Developer Portal: http://dev.metaio.com/. Developer portal will continue until December 15th, 2015.


    4. What is the support resource for existing Metaio Creator users?

    Deployment of your Junaio Channels is possible until June 30th, 2015 if you have an existing Metaio/Junaio Developer Account.


    7. How much cloud space does the Metaio Creator come with?

    The Metaio Creator comes with 100MB of cloud space. If you possess an active subscription of 3GB Cloud Space, this license will be continued until expiration. Metaio products and subscriptions are no longer available for purchase/renewal.


    8. How many installations is the Metaio Creator license good for?

    One Metaio Creator license allows one installation on one Mac/PC.


    9. What types of 3D model formats does the Metaio Creator support?

    You can import .obj, .fbx, and .md2 file formats to the Metaio Creator.


    10. What operating systems does the Metaio Creator support?

    With the Metaio Creator, you can develop on Windows PC, and Mac OS. You can deploy apps for iOS, Android and Windows PC (x86).

  • 1. What is the Metaio SDK?

    The Metaio SDK is a modular framework that includes the capturing component, the sensor interface component, the rendering component, the tracking component and the Metaio SDK interface. The interface provides interaction between the application and the other 4 modular components.


    2. Can I purchase a Metaio SDK license?

    Metaio products and subscriptions are no longer available for purchase. Downloads of your previous purchases will be available until December 15th, 2015.

    No, you can continue to use your commercial license, but no upgrades are available.


    6. How many apps can I deploy with my single Metaio SDK License?

    All Metaio licenses are valid for an unlimited number of apps published under one developer account.


    7. I want to use the Metaio SDK License to deploy apps for several customers. Is my license bound to one App Store/Google Play developer account, or can I publish an app under different customers’ developer accounts as well?

    Metaio SDK License allows you to publish an unlimited number of branded apps for as many customers as you wish, as long as these apps are bound to one developer account. In other words, the apps and their branding can be completely different, but all of them must be published under the same developer account in the App Store/Google Play.


    8. How much cloud space does the Metaio SDK come with?

    Metaio Suite is a complete Augmented Reality (A-R) solution that combines all our A-R products and services into one convenient bundle.


    2. What is included in the Metaio Suite?

    It includes Metaio SDK Deployment License, Metaio Cloud License, Metaio Creator, Metaio Continuous Visual Search (CVS) 1,000, and an additional 3GB of Cloud Space.


    3. Can I purchase a Metaio Suite license or renew my subscription?

  • 1. What is the Metaio Cloud?

    It is application hosting and delivery as a service for users of the Metaio Creator and the Metaio SDK. It allows you to maintain full control over updating and distributing your content at any time. Deliver Augmented Reality (A-R) content updates to your app without the headache of app store resubmissions. The Metaio Cloud is available as an export option directly from within the Metaio Creator and the Metaio SDK (Cloud Plugin included). Manage all of your A-R projects in a single place.

    10. What is a Cloud Accelerator?

    A Cloud Accelerator works in the same way a Content Delivery Network (CDN) does. The Cloud Accelerator is a Metaio Cloud upgrade solely for the storage and distribution of an AR channel’s content over a large network of servers connected to the internet — located in multiple cities all over the world. This upgrade will allow end-users to pull data from Augmented Reality applications over the shortest possible distance based on a user’s proximity to a nearby server, anywhere in the world, decreasing the amount of time it takes to deliver content.

  • 1. What is the Metaio CVS?

    The Metaio Continuous Visual Search (CVS) is a cloud-based image matching system that allows you to create and easily manage a database of up to a million patterns and then quickly match them with their corresponding A-R content.


    2. When is the CVS needed?

    Due to the technical limitations of end users’ devices, A-R scenarios with more than 150 tracking images tend to encounter performance issues. The CVS circumvents these limitations by offloading the workload to the cloud. The CVS also allows for simplified content management.


    3. Can I purchase a Metaio CVS license or renew my subscription?

    4. I am using the Metaio CVS 1,000 license and want to upgrade to the CVS 10,000, is this possible?

    No, you can continue to use your commercial license, but no upgrades are available.

    8. Can I use one CVS License for several customers?

    The CVS License is only bound to the number of images that you upload to your database (so you can query the database from different apps that have been published with different developer accounts). Also, we do not charge on the number of matches in the database or number of queries that you send to the database. However, we do have a 'fair use' policy of up to 100,000 requests per month.


    9. Can I use CVS on my own server?

    No, the Metaio CVS is only available on the Metaio server.


    10. Is the Metaio CVS available for 3D tracking patterns?

    No, the Metaio CVS is only available for 2D tracking patterns (i.e. images).

  • 1. What is Metaio Engineer?

    The Metaio Engineer is a highly precise and robust tool for the productive deployment of augmented reality in industrial environments. The visualization of virtual construction elements or even entire production facilities in their “natural” environment visualizes realistic results of planning and development, improving the communication between project stakeholders.


    2. Can I purchase a Metaio Engineer license?

    3. How do I access documentation for Metaio Engineer?

    5. Do you offer any training programs?

    6. Do I need any other hardware or software when using the Metaio Engineer?

    When using the Metaio Engineer, a camera is mandatory. For high precision augmentations of the on-screen objects with virtual content, a calibrated industrial camera is recommended. Additional hardware and software may be required when extending the functionality of the Metaio Engineer with additional modules for special applications (e.g. for positioning the camera with a measuring arm).


    7. Which cameras are supported by the Metaio Engineer?

    In general, all cameras supporting Windows DirectShow can be used with the Metaio Engineer. This applies to almost all cameras connected via USB or Firewire. DirectShow compatible frame grabber cards can be used along with most digital video cameras connected via Firewire.


    8. Which measuring arms are supported by the Metaio Engineer?

    The Metaio Engineer supports all USB measurement arms from FARO and measurement arms from Hexagon with type designation SE.


    9. What is the maximum possible polygon count?

    The maximum number of polygons that all models within one scene may have is strongly dependent on your hardware.

    The better your graphics card is the more polygons can be rendered simultaneously, whereas the storage size determines how many polygons the whole scene may have. However on an average up-to-date consumer PC you should be able to work with 3-D models of 100.000 to 500.000 polygons.
