Molitor Racing Systems GmbH, competitors in the Porsche Mobile1 Supercup and the Porsche Carrera-Cup, wanted to develop and present a new independent Supercar to potential customers without investing large amounts of money into a display prototype.
Kreativagentur Thomas designed the complete vehicle beginning with the first drafts and 3D renders to the finished model. At the same time, they prepared the data for several kiosk applications and an iPhone and Android app based on metaio's software platform. At the launch event, which took place in the racing team's premises, the interactive prototype concept car was presented on touch screens via Augmented Reality. Attendees of the event could then configure and adjust the car's paint scheme and appearance.
Using the mobile app and a marker printed on the event brochure, visitors could superimpose the car, via mobile Augmented Reality, into their own garage or living room. If users of the mobile app were in need of contacting MRS, they could use their smartphone's built in GPS to get directions to Molitor Racing Systems or schedule an appointment in advance.
Carsten Molitor, founder of MRS GmbH: "The idea to present a forward-looking car via a forward-looking technology was received with great interest. Also the possibility to take the car home and in advance show it to friends is a true USP and creates more emotional attachment than I estimated. We think that this is a great achievement!"
