As a leader in the development and manufacturing of technologies in the printing, communication and digital imaging industries, Brother recognized the value of Augmented Reality early on as an effective tool to engage and educate customers. That's why they enlisted AR specialist Dante Technologies to develop a mobile app which can be used both as a sales tool for retailers as well as a tool for Brother's customers to better understand the features of Brother Multi-Function Centres.
Based on the junaio Plugin, a free of charge iOS and Android app was developed and implemented by Dante Technologies to show Brother's latest range of Multi-Function Centres. An interactive hotspot approach with a mascot as a guide is used to highlight the main features of the printers. Users can view the products in 3D and learn more about its key features via animations by simply aiming their devices at designated brochures and posters in stores. Alternatively they can use a printout of the advertisement by downloading it from the Brother website.
The app will create an innovative purchase mode for customers, allowing them to come closer to understanding the functionalities of the products. Enhancing a product with AR not only changes the dimensions of purchase decisions but also gives more power to the consumers.
"In our line of business, it is not just important to be innovative with our product offerings but to be creative with the means we market them to consumers." emphasised Takeo Shimazu, Managing Director of Brother International Singapore Pte Ltd. "Customers today are much more technologically savvy and are more receptive to information that is readily available, even while they are on the go. With this app, customers can not only get a three-dimensional and 360 degree view of the product but watch it perform various functions such as print and scan with just a few taps, bringing customer experience to a whole new level."
