Challenge

Which movie do I want to watch tonight? This seems to be a well known question in living rooms, when one opens the TV Guide. TV Movie, a German TV magazine, now has come up with an amazing way for its readers to decide. In cooperation with metaio, TV Movie wanted to create a mobile application which is able to show trailers directly on the magazine.

Solution

Based on the junaio Plugin, metaio created a mobile application for the iPhone and iPad2. The application uses the various technological possibilities and the large userbase of junaio and combines this with the branding advantages of a white-label app. Users can download the application for free from the App Store and then hold their device up to the TV Movie magazine. The application then recognizes different images and augments a play button onto the magazine. The corresponding trailer will then be shown on the device.

Conclusion

In a next step Bauer Media, the publisher of TV Movie, will launch the app also on Android devices. Furthermore Bauer Media created an Augmented Reality business model which provides easy integration of video content into printed ads.
